PARAMOUNT RESORT THEME PARK MURCIA SPAIN

Murcia is a region lying on the southeast coast of Spain that combines breathtaking mountain scenery, fertile plains and more than 300km of beautiful sandy beaches.

It is home to Costa Cálida, a stretch of coastline that ranks as one of the finest and least developed in southern Spain, and it boasts an alluring combination of great food, rich cultural heritage and world class facilities for golf, sailing and other sports. One of the many qualities that make Murcia remarkable is its unique microclimate, which affords approximately 320 days of sunshine every year. This is substantially more than Spain’s already enviable national average and, with annual temperatures averaging around 21 degrees Celsius, the region’s weather
is as near to perfect as you’re ever likely to find.

Murcia has long been the destination of choice for wealthy, discerning Spanish tourists but despite its unarguable attractions, it was largely unrecognised by foreign tourists until relatively recently. Today, all that has changed. The construction of the A7 motorway and improvements to other roads have facilitated speedy transit from any one of three regional airports and, as a result of major investment programmes on the part of the government and the private sector, Murcia is set to open up to a whole new generation of visitors.

One such programme has been the construction of a new international airport at Corvera, which will open in early 2012, bringing tourists directly into the Murcian heartland. One of many appreciable improvements to the region’s transport infrastructure, this adds considerably to the region’s appeal and has certainly not gone unnoticed by forward-looking property investors.

As an already thriving tourist destination that will benefit still further as a result of greatly improved transport links, Murcia could not fail to become a focal point for investors. Demand for accommodation already outstrips supply during the busy summer months and it remains healthy throughout the year.

However, an even more important development is now set to give the region’s property market a boost of truly epic proportions. Work has begun on a new 2.5km2 theme park in Murcia, which will ultimately stand as the single largest tourist attraction in all of Spain.

Comprising a series of zones themed around major motion pictures such as Star Trek and Titanic, it is scheduled to open in 2015 and is expected to draw upwards of three million visitors to the region each year.

Its name is the Paramount Resort.
